Laptop Repair

Laptop screen turning on and off randomly.

If there is a lose wire going to the back light in the screen when you open it all the way or gently taping on the back of the screen and the light stays on longer or turns off completely.

(This can happen over time from normal use or manufacture error)

The way to fix it is to take the screen off where it attaches to the body of the laptop and find the lose wire and fix it (can be tricky). You might not want to do it yourself and probably need to take it to a shop or have a friend that knows how to fix them or if you have a extra monitor laying around you can use it till you get the money saved up to get it fixed properly.

I've had to repair laptop screens like that a few times myself or if the laptop is old (3-4 years or more) it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a new one because repairs can be half the cost of a newer faster machine.

Screens smudged or dirty and hard to see try this

If you haven't cleaned the screen in a while with a damp (not wet) cloth I would try that first.

If you have and it doesn't remove the smudge try some rubbing alcohol on a clean lint free cloth and gently wipe the area.

If that doesn't work then there is a good chance the screen itself is damaged and needs replaced.

Laptop being slow or freezing up at random times.

You might have a virus or spyware that is slowing the laptop down. Try downloading this and let it scan it may take a while but it works really well and it's free. Superantispyware

Macbook shuts off every couple hours for no apparent reason?

I spilled water on it about a week ago but I've allowed it to dry completely. Everything else is working perfectly fine. I just can't get it to stop turning off randomly!

Here's my answer:
It may still be wet inside some place and randomly shorting out and turning the Mac off. Have you removed the battery and made sure the contacts are dry? If not then I would try that or take the battery out and then use a hair dryer on its low setting and dry it out for 5-10 minutes to make sure it's completely dry. If not then it need to be repaired or replaced.

Laptop won’t turn on please help?

Laptop shuts down out of nowhere I have a cooling pad for it because fan doesn’t work now when I try to turn it on all I get is Toshiba leading innovation. That’s it; it won’t start up or anything. What do I do?

Here is my answer:
if it's only saying the Toshiba leading innovation screen then it's not completing a post test
(Power On Self Test) and something inside the laptop is bad or lose and since you said the fan doesn't work then it may have overheated anyway even with the cooling pad ether because it's dusty inside the laptop vents or the fan went bad.

But in any case you might need to take it to a shop or if it's old (3-5 years) then i would replace it with a new machine.
